My weakness for Italian cuisine just got real. It was love at first taste – honestly. If you’re in Manchester and fancy traditional fresh Italian Pasta, the Pasta Factory is a must visit. This small Italian delight is located in Shudehill, just around the corner from the bus station. This place would make a great date night. It’s not too far from Printworks, so you can go to the pictures after or even better, go to the Northern Quarter for a few drinks at one of their quirky bars.
We started with a cheese board sharing platter and it was deliciously fresh! I can’t remember the name of it but it was pretty special.
Moving onto the mains, me and my friend had the same dish – Bucatini Neri Con IL Polpo, now that my friends is squid ink pasta, tossed with marinated octopus, sunblushed tomatoes and fresh basil. With them cooking two portions of the same dish at the same time, the only criticism I had was the Octopus wasn’t evenly distributed, I had a few tiny pieces and my friend had a heck of a lot! Of what I had, the octopus was spot on and pasta was al dente! Moving on, Jake ordered the special of the day which was Ribbons of homemade pasta, specks of hams with walnut sauce. I unfortunately didn’t get to taste it but it looked divine.
The atmosphere was great and it was getting slightly busy by 7pm, so if you want to avoid this, it’s best to go between the hours of 4pm and 6pm. Customer service was brilliant, maybe a little under staffed as it was getting busier. However, he was very attentive and looked after us, the chap kept his cool together and was very joyful! You’ll also be glad to hear they cater for all dietary needs; vegan and gluten free options, the cheese pasta and even the wine are veganised!
If you plan to visit, check out the reviews on Tripadvisor here – you will not be disappointed. I’d definitely come here again!
