I was lucky enough to be invited to the soft launch of Smokehouse & Cellar in Manchester, Lloyd Street on Thursday, before their grand opening. To celebrate the soft launch they had some of the Hollyoaks cast there, hunky rugby players and Scott and Kady, y’know the two love birds from Love Island?
More people started to enter and I was really excited to try out their menu. I love Barbecue food, especially in this glorious weather. The menu is very similar to Reds True BBQ and Solita, however they have created their own unique twists to their smoker dishes.
The interior was very industrial, exposed with steel / copper and rustic wood. In the middle of the restaurant was a huge Pilsner Urquell tank which set the tone of the restaurant bar. They’re the second restaurant to serve Pilsner Urquell in Manchester.
If you’re a fan of smoked and grilled BBQ food, read on.
Smokehouse & Cellar menu offers all the classic American type food you’d expect from a BBQ, such as, brisket, ribs, pulled pork and burgers as well as wood fired pizzas and hanging skewers. The food and drinks were’nt overly priced which is always a bonus.
… in the meantime look and salivate at the tasters.
Not only is this a restaurant but from 10pm onwards it becomes a late night bar, with live entertainment from bands and DJs. DJ Steve O was on the decks busting out some right old classics that night and when he played Conor Maynards’ cover of R’n’B classics, the vibe of the whole room was buzzing.
The bar is licensed until 4am. If you want to venture to another bar, why not head over to Mojo’s and Liars club just off Deansgate, they also open until 4am. Y’see, I’m a bit of a party pooper, well.. I just can’t handle late nights anymore, maybe it’s due to old age.
If you’re around Manchester and fancy Barbecue food, you should definitely pay Smokehouse a visit.
