Review: English Lounge, Northern Quarter

Northern Quarter in Manchester is one of those trendy urban atmospheric spots with an assortment of restaurants, from burger joints to bistros. It’s difficult to find a decent traditional pub, but wait, there’s English Lounge, Northern Quarter, that has just been recently refurbished.

The dark wood touches give the pub a warm homely feel, and the exposed brick walls brings out the character of English Lounge giving a country vibe. There was a mixture of furniture between classy velour chairs to vintage chiq tables. They also have a hidden garden – perfect for those upcoming summer days!

The newly refurbished pub comes with a brand-new menu and so after work we thought we’d go check it out. From Venison burgers to crispy squid you’re sure spoilt for choice. Or, you can opt for all time pub classics, such as, Fish and Chips, prime steaks and the one and only British roast. So for starters, I was torn between Mac and Cheese balls and salt and pepper squid (my all-time fave). In the end, we decided to choose those two and share. I then opted for the venison burger and sweet potato fries AND salted caramel fudge cake with ice cream!

The English Lounge, Northern Quarter, have pulled together a mix of beverages, from universal lager to your one and only IPA. Me and my friend were both driving so it was a coke for us unfortunately. But there was a wide selection to choose from.

If you’re looking for a classier Weatherspoons, then make sure you give English Lounge a visit.
